SMC Wage Calculator

The following calculator allows you to establish whether or not your work experience can be used towards an application under one of the skilled migrant categories. It is an indication only and relies on the information you provide. For a confirmation of the results, contact one of the team today for a preliminary review of your situation: immigration@turnerhopkins.co.nz

Estimate your SMC work experience

Step 1 of 4

When do you plan to apply?

We use the intended residence application date to work backwards and calculate the relevant look-back window.

Tip: Not sure about some details? You can still continue. Your result will show what may need to be checked.

Step 2 of 4

Tell us about your current job or offer

These details help estimate whether your current job meets the work experience rules. If you do not know your ANZSCO details, leave them blank and we can review them with you.

Current job confirmations

Select these only if you know they apply. If you are unsure, leave them unchecked and our team can review your occupation.

Optional Points-based pathway details
Optional Trades and Technician details

Step 3 of 4

Add work history

Add one card for each period where your employer, role, pay rate, hours, visa status, and occupation stayed the same. If your pay changed, add a new period starting from the date the new pay rate began.

When should you add another period? Add a new work period if your pay rate, salary, job title, employer, hours, visa status, country, or occupation changed. This is important because your pay at the start of each period helps determine whether that period can be counted.

Step 4 of 4

Review and calculate

Check your summary below, then calculate your potentially claimable work experience. Your result will show what may count, what may not count, and why.

Important: This calculator provides an indication only. It estimates potentially claimable work experience using the information entered and the background wage/date rules built into the tool. It is not immigration advice, does not guarantee eligibility, and does not replace a full assessment of evidence, genuine employment, ANZSCO substantial match, or whether Immigration New Zealand would accept the claimed work experience as directly relevant.
